Was looking at a new 29er HT but then this popped up just over budget. 2019 Trance 29 2 for £1600. Does look ideal for my riding.

Size guide has me down as a medium, but would like to gets others thoughts and what size they ride compared to height and inseam.

Guide T brakes seem to be the let down but could change them at a later date.

I'm 6ft 1 and ride a large.

It's a big bike - but feels the right size when you're on it.

Bought mine in Sept 2018, the day it came into the local shop.

Excellent bike - really like it and it rolls well.

Have replaced the drivetrain to Shimano 1x11 after the rear mech exploded and have also recently upgraded to SLX 4-pot.

Yeah 6’1” and on a large too, feels about right. Brakes have been a bit disappointing, they’re noisy and the front judders terribly under hard braking. I’ve cleaned the discs and changed the pads but still the same. Guide Ts on my hardtail have been perfect.
I bought from Pedal on, if you are too .... check the tightness of the bolts, the stem cap face plate was loose on mine. I also found the Giant saddle very uncomfortable.

I was looking at Pedalon as it’s £1699. I’m just under 5ft 11 so usually fall between sizes!

I'm 5ft 11 and have had a Large Advanced Pro 1 from the first batch to enter the country. Have done over 2000 miles on it since then & constantly recommend it to everyone.

I changed the Level T brakes to XTs the moment I collected it and have never looked back.

Im 5'11 and on a Large 2020 Trance 29. Its kitted out with SLX drivetrain and Shimano Mt520 brakes. Its a great bike, nothing to crazy in terms of angles but its a good, fast trail bike

My OH is 5’9” and has a medium 2019 Trance 2 that she recently bought heavily discounted. The bike fits her perfectly.  Sadly at 6’1” I’m just a bit too big for it (tho I have tried;) otherwise I’d be borrowing it! I swapped the SRAM brakes over to Shimano for her, but other than that and saddle and grips, it’s pretty much stock spec.

I agree with the person above who said about them being underrated. I demo’d a nicely specced SC Tallboy Carbon a few months back, and IMO the Trance 2 is very nearly as as good, even with its budget kit - I just couldn’t get over how close they were, and there was a 3k difference in price!!. The geometry on the Trance is great for trail centre stuff. If you eventually swap out the standard wheels, drivetrain and bars for lighter ones, there’s the potential to have a really light trail bike.

So guessing I need the large at 5ft 11. Guide on Giant page says medium for my height and inseam so not sure! My Fuel is pretty short reach of 450 and the medium trance 442 and large 462. Medium has longer top tube than trek though.

Also looking at one of these right now too... 5ft10 here and on a 458mm reach on my longer travel bike, thinking of sticking with the medium at 442mm reach and upping the stem to a 45 or 50mm (from the stock 40mm) as I want something that's a bit more playful and fun on the local trails rather than a straight line smasher.

£1699 for the 2019 bike looks crazy value @ Pedalon for sure!

I'm 5'11, but used to be 6' (shrinking with age, lose another cm and my BMI will mean I'm obese) I have long body, short legs.
I have a 2019 trance 2 29er in medium. Initially I thought it would be too small but the guys in the shop (Mammoth in Stafford, know their stuff) insisted it was right and I think they are.
I'm loving riding it and it's coped with some bits that I thought I'd have a serious problem with.
I haven't compared it to a large but don't feel the need to. Originally sceptical about the NX Eagle and Guide T but am finding them fine for my demands. I think the guide T is like the other models but with a basic lever with little scope for adjustment, however it's comfortable for me, once you get a small Allen key.

Medium is way too short, don't you feel like you are being rotated over the front on the steeps.

6'3" on an XL. 150 airshaft in the forks, removed the spacer in the shock for that vital extra 7mm of rear wheel travel 🤣
Live in the tweed valley and it copes with everything happily.
