I put the crank brothers stamp pedals back on the DH bike and instantly remembered why I took them off, just don’t work for me as the axle seems too high and/or pins too shallow. Thus looking for some replacements, however as I’ll probably end up going clipless sometime in the not too distant future, I don’t want to spend a fortune. Anything good on sale?

HT PA03A are always a safe bet and inexpensive. (HT aren't that well known a name but they make pedals for loads of other people, like the original superstars, all the Nukeproofs, tons of others) They're nothing out of the ordinary- not super thin, not super tough, and just normal shape, so they tend not to blow anyone away but at the same time the odds of you not liking them are about zero.

I'm a wee bit wary of recommending these but I have a couple of sets and they've been great for me- it's just, I'm very light so I can't really say how tough the axles are. Very cheap, similiar platform to the Nukeproofs, and they just work well. (they're all bushing instead of bearing-and-bushing like most pedals, but it doens't seem to be a problem)

Kona WahWah composite can’t be beat and are a bargain.
You don’t need a deal.

Thin, big, amazing grip. Last well. Good pin positions

I’ve tried lots of exotics and ended up here

Can be hard to find online, no idea what Kona uk are playing at.

the Aliexpress Shanmashi Bigfoot are a good replica but miss an internal washer that means they can be persuaded to fall off the axle after a proper smash that tugs on the pedal. Rare I’m sure.

yeah large (very) and slim, good tapered edge avoids strikes. Strong too. I also like the pins.

Stuck record here, but I love my Deity Deftraps. Cheap, tough, lovely feel.

Cheapest fix could be a pack of longer pins. Just replaced the ones on an an old set of Wellgo MG1s and they're like new pedals.
