Just sold my DH bike due to not really using it and am now thinking of selling my Scout frame as well and getting a slightly bigger bike to cover both bases.
I originally wanted a Bronson but can’t find a used frame in budget. An Intense Tracer SL frame has caught my attention. All the reviews say it’s great descending (the important bit) but climbing/normal riding reviews are mixed. Just wondering what people’s experiences are of them (if any).
Cheers
They're good bikes, as per most of them in that class, it's all about the fit and the set up though, you either set it up to be plush on the downs, or efficient on the ups, tried a few like this but settled on the patrol as the fit felt better, but really any of them could have done the job if i'd have tried different setups.
Cheers for that. I’m really tempted, it’s a bit bigger bike than I was aiming for but it looks good value.
Sizing is similar to my Scout in terms of reach etc.
I ride an Intense Primer and had a Recluse before that.
I've had a spin on my local trails with an Intense Tracer factory build. Top of the line with ENVE wheels and all the light stuff you can think of.
It was a pig on the climbs.
The guy who owned it was the same build as me so suspension was about right and did the same kind of riding so had the rear shock set up supposedly on the firmer side. It was wollowy as hell.
I came off it thinking that if it hadn't been for the lightweight build kit, it would be unrideable uphill.
That’s the one bit that the reviews can’t agree on; Pink Bike weren’t that complementary about its climbing but STw said it was fine.
My Scout isn’t the best climber in all fairness. It’s a bit porky.
I took the plunge and I’ve been enjoying the bike a lot.

Since building it up with parts from my Scout, I’ve made a few tweaks (Z1’s fitted last week as per the picture), a set of Codes and a carbon Burgtec bar. It’s not the worlds best climber, but suits my winch and plummet style riding.
It’s a lot lighter than my Scout was and carries some speed.
