You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
All local shops are booked up and I need to chase the over-spray out of the BB threads. Any tips? (no I don't have an old metal BB)
I just do it with a penknife around the threads if I can't be bothered with the taps.
nitromors?
Nitromors is just asking for it to be spilled/leak/blob onto the outer shell though- even if you used a tooth brush (sods law).
Yep penknife or stanley usually do a good job depending on the frame material
but never underestimate the power of a six pack down the local bike shop
Tried a pen knife last night- couldn't 'arc' it round enough in the threads.
Brass wire brush?
Turps and wire brush?
Dentist's pick can do it but it's timeconsuming.
Have you considered going back-and-forth with your new BB? Forcing it all the way in is a bad idea but short bursts and reversals might- might- clear out the thread to an acceptable level as you go.
A suede shoe brush.

Dremel with one of these attached.
Works a treat.
Bike boutique in Manchester cleaned mine out for £10 (round your way I guess?)
Wire brush Mark, small one with short wire and plenty of pressure should have it out easy.
Had this problem on Tues with my new Salsa. Wire brush on the Dremel worked a treat.
I'll do the wire-brush thang. Its the only thing holding off finishing the build. Once sorted it'll be bing/seconds!
Hammer. If that doesn't work, bigger hammer.
