You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hello, I'm down this way over the weekend - just wondered if there's anything in the immediate vicinity worth checking out? I'm generally into the techer / rockier stuff so I may be better served driving up to the high peak, , but don't think I will have enough time really. Are there any secret cheeky trails or anything like that down that way?
anyone?
cannock chase is probably about 40 mins from ashbourne, postcode is WS15 1ND.
That area is called the white peak, find a local shop and buy this

failing that, bring up bing maps, switch to OS and scout around for bridleways. There's the churnet valley way, starts fron Denstone and ends at oakamoor, which is 4 miles of offroad track (all flat) alongside alton towers, you could link that up with some other offroad stuff, there's a few bridleways that way if I remember but can't give you any specifics. If you haven't been before I would defo go to Cannock, it's ace.
You can try black rocks at cromford. About 15 minutes from Ashbourne. In Ashbourne itself there isn't much.
I did a 100km loop the other week from Derby to Ashbourne (local bridle ways and very minor back roads) tissington and high peak trails to Blackrocks, Cromford Canal to Crich Chase and Shining Cliff at Ambergate then back along the Chevin at Belper and Drum Hill to Bredsall and Derby
Long old ride, prob 75% off road of some description
thanks all
