As per the title, im in the market for some 29in boost DT Swiss XRC 1200 wheels for my XC bike, looking for the 2024 versions so 24 spokes per wheel, 20mm rim depth and 1303 grams in weight

Not interested in the older versions which have 28 spokes per wheel, 25mm rim depth and weigh 1480 grams

So have you seen any deals?

Cheers

Yeah im sturrgling to find any, i did order a set and was assured they are the latest versions but when they arrived it turns out they are not the latest ones as advertised on DT's website so im returning them

According to what ive seen online the latest versions came out in June of this year but it looks like no one has any

Also now looking at Roval Control SL wheels as they use the same hubs and spokes as the DT XRC 1200's but with Roval's own rim which is slightly lighter

Merlin have the top end rovals discounted. Pretty sure roval now have a better warranty policy for the first two years.

Got my XMCs from gambacicli, but looking on their website seems to just have the old ones.

Two further comments, neither of which you asked for, but never mind:

I don't particularly like riding the DTSwiss carbon, they're too stiff and just rebound all over the place. Sounds like you want them for racing rather than all mountain so may be ok.

More relevantly, this:

Pretty sure roval now have a better warranty policy for the first two years.

I had a long correspondence with UK warranty about a crack on my XMCs. Their position was that a rock had clearly bounced up and hit the rim top and cracked it. My view was no shit, that's what happend when you go mountain biking ( especially all mountain). My aluminium rims are absolutely covered in dings from multiple rock hits, but still work fine

They refused to sort it and wanted  £260 for a new rim. I didn't see the point in spending that just to get back to " don't use these wheels anywhere there may be loose rocks" so declined.

I've bought 4 aluminium DTSwiss wheels since then, but wouldn't go near them for carbon again.

Just in case you can't find what you want... pick up some Newmen advanced sl xa25's (1260g's)

Cheers for the replies

Ive checked out the Rovals on Merlin’s but unfortunately they are £200 over my max budget

I have read about the issue with rock strikes and DT’s £250 flat fee for rim replacement, no too fussed by this as I tend not to suffer with that issue

Not interested in the Newman’s, I only like to run DT or Hope hubs for ease of service and spare parts

Newmen have a newer 30mm XC set also. I'm a big fan of their wheels, been rock solid for me and I'm a big lump, although I haven't used their really light XC stuff.

The roval control SL wheelset on Merlin at £1600 is a good price, you will also find it very difficult to get the new dt’s you want for that price, I’ve had The older XRC dt Swiss but now have 2 sets of the Roval control SL and think you won’t get a better wheelset, they are dt hubs and spokes and the flat top rim tech is very good

Certini have the standard roval control 350 for £999 if you can live with their whopping 1450g weight. I've had a set for 3 years and they've been decent for my local peak riding on my hardtail and full sus. Broken a few rear spokes but easy enough to replace and true. Front has been perfect. Stood up well to rock strikes and rim dings.

Cheers but they are too heavy for what i want, would like the wheels to be around 1300 grams or less, will see if i can stretch the max budget an extra £200 again for the Roval SL's on DT 180 hubs
