I am looking to buy a jacket that I can wear before and after rides. I would prefer one that I could pack into a bag and take walking. So are there any deals around?

Thanks

I got a TOG24 Vidar Tech half price from Debenhams - £100 - £50! 🙂

Bought it for walks along the beach front with the kiddies.

Worn it a few times now with just a thermal t-shirt and never felt the cold or wind.

It's very thin, so would pack away nicely.

Alan.

If your looking for a cheap jacket field and trek (sports direct)
have karrimor for £25(they own the brand name now) and Nevica for £30.
I bought on of the karrimor light weight gilet thnigys for after bike wear and general garage pottering etc. Its pretty thin but really warm for the thickness, packs down very small and cost £18. It looses a few feathers but nothing too bad for the money!.

Have you considered primaloft instead of down? Howies have one reduced at the mo, but others are available

http://store.karrimor.com/karrimor-lightweight-down-jacket-mens-443081

they also have a gilet for £18

Cheap and cheerful so doesn't matter if it gets muddy.

craghoppers have an end of season sale also.

Decathlon have the Trespass down ski jacket at £39.
Primaloft is good but not a patch on down.

I bought this in blue with green zip. Its awesome.

Packs into itself. With a good base layer and mid layer it was perfectly fine standing at a train station in -6 at that last cold snap we had up here.

I wear it everyday. Can be worn like a hoody over a tshirt for shopping etc and layered up for walking etc.

Was in Milletts in Exeter the other day and they had synthetic down jackets for 15 quid which looked ok for the money. For something more high end then Finisterre have a sale on at the moment. Have one of their gilets and it's ace.

Had a look at the sports direct karrimor ones and 6 different ones later I couldn't find one with a working zip, just a little more spent here and I would have snapped one up

There's bucket loads of down deals on I'd stay away from Alpkit for the price they Re now I'd rather go Rab, mpuntain hardwear etc. I have a Karimoor gilet for £18 brilliant but I wouldn't pay £25 for the full jacket! Google is your friend look at Go Outdoors, Cotswolds.

They are very thin and quite cheaply made and I wouldn't wear it as a coat it's more and under layer may be just what you're looking for though.

Ah, thanks for that. Thin I'm fine with - it's to go under full waterproofs or to be used as a spring jacket. Cheaply made I'm less keen on, but perhaps for the price I can bear it!

Markie very true if it's to go under stuff I think it'll be fine my gilet for £18 seems to be great, think their RRP's are a complete lie mind!!

I dunno bout your area but my nearest TK Maxx (dumfries) has Berghaus down jackets and Gillets in stock along with Fat Face zip neck merino tops and Sugoi riding jackets, a varied selection of sizes in all of the above as well so i guess the majority of the stores will also have them, most of the folk who shop at the dumfries store are knuckle draggers and addidas tracksuit wearing neds so they don't really go for the proper sporty stuff preferring to fight over logo'd up and emblazoned tracksuit tops and sweatshirts etc, JB sports used to be next door to it but since they've shut down all the neds have flocked to TK Maxx.

I tried the Rab Generator but it had distinct 80s shell suit overtones. I love my Berghaus with Primaloft but after a few washes and 4 years it seems to have lost it's awesome insulation.

Somafunk

Do you know which jacket and any idea of the price, I've been eyeing up a Berghaus Kendale for a little while and am wondering if its worth the trip into the town next time I'm passing.

I do actually, i took a pic of it on my phone as i was going to look it up online to see if it was a bargain or not but i'm skint at the moment so i never bothered as there's now't worse than finding a TK Maxx absolute bargain and realising you have no money in the bank - ti'z better off not knowing what you're missing out on 😉

According to my pic of the label it was the Berghaus Furnace jacket for £59.99 and the Gillet was £49.99, i'm unsure what style the gilet was as i only took a pic of it but it was definitely down filled as well.

This was last thursday afternoon.

I've recently bought an Alpkit Filo so i'm not hard done, can't complain really 🙂

Managed to get a Rab arête for about £70 from go outdoors.
Only down side is it has no hood but for the price can't really complain.

Anyone spot any good offers up now? I'm looking for a women's down jacket, and my budget's 30-60 pounds. Suggestions welcome.

*Yes, I know about Uniqlo, but there are better things out there right?

Howies down (no pun intended) from £180 to £100
Got mine the other day. Very nice but at full price it would be a bit 😯
Good for £100 tho. No loop to hang it up tho which is very annoying.
