Now the weather has turned for the worse, I have dragged my riding trousers out of storage and after Wednesdays night ride discovered that they have delaminated in the most critical place (around the backside) so I'm on the lookout for replacements.
Are there any good deals out there? I seem to remember last winter there were some great offers for up to £40.
Thanks in advance!
Nukeproof Blackline from Wiggle if you're feeling brave?
How do the Nukeproof trousers size up? Are they true to size?
Leisure lakes have 37% off the resist trousers in a lot of sizes:
I ordered a pair but returned them as I picked up a pair of the new madison waterproof bib trousers.

How do they size up?
I'm 5'11, long leg, 12.5st so reasonably slim - the Madison bib's look like they might suit someone with a bit more tub
I'm pleased with some nukeproof ones from wiggle https://www.wiggle.com/p/nukeproof-blackline-mens-trail-pants
They're splash proof, quite light weight so really comfy, but not sure how well they'll stand up to brambles
The current ones are three winters old and they are the decathlon ones. My only gripe with them is the leg length is a touch long for my short legs.
The nukeproof ones do look nice, but there has been many a discussion on the sizing. Even the same item in the same supposed sizing there have been large differences.
Freewheel have madison flux pants for £31. I bought some they’re ok.
Better than Decathlon.

Just in case it matters to you I found the pockets on the Flux to be laughably small, and sent them back. I found some madison zeniths for 50 quid which is what I've kept and kept water off pretty well. The fit is quite baggy in the legs though and at a 32" waist the mediums are a bit too big around the waist too.
I had a pair of the decathlons which fit well but weren't very durable. Trousers tend to last me ~4 months before I rip open the seams in the sides of the knees and the decathlons only lasted ~2 before that happened. I do appreciate that is quite a niche way of destroying trousers though...
On the subject of biking trews, I have most bases covered for normal riding with various Nukeproof & Rapha versions, and the biblical weather option with some Troy Lee Resists, but I don’t have anything for those typical autumn (well, year round at the moment) days where it’s not raining, but the ground is bloody wet.
I don’t want to wear full waterproof options as they are seriously sweaty if you are working, but the normal ones result in getting soaked, quickly.
Is there anything out there with just a waterproof seat area? I can’t seem to find anything.
I think they come up a little large. I’m 5’9” and 11st. And I wear small.

These?

I've not got any but I was looking for something similar myself. At the moment I use waterproof shorts over lycra shorts and legwarmers (or just lycra tights if it's cold) but it's not a great look.... 😉
I’ve got the blue Nukeproof black lines - bought 2 pairs within a few weeks of each other and the fit is the same in each pair (as it should be). Find them very comfortable as they’re a stretchy and light kind of material. Best to assume they are in no way waterproof - but they don’t get heavy when wet that I’ve noticed and it means when you get back to the car from your ride you can just strip them off and you’re mud free.
Think I’m about a 33” waist / 32” inside leg (in terms of trousers I buy - haven’t actually measured). Reasonably chunky legs and behind. Fit well in the medium trousers and can fit Fox Launch D30 knee pads underneath them fine.
£40 Decathlon biking trousers
Do you own these? I've had my eye on them for a while but they don't have an integrated pad - wondering how much room they have for bib shorts underneath?
I've been impressed with the decathlon shorts (WITH pad), save for the weirdly placed pocket
Thanks for the suggestions all. The concenessus seems to point to the Nukeproof Blacklines.
@flannol, they have been ok for the price. I would have just bought the same ones again had there not been any deals around. Three years ago there wasn't much around at that price point so that's what I went for.
I wear bib shorts underneath them, in fact I never use baggy shorts with a pad always a liner with a pad.
Deals on Ion pants on Sport persuit but delivery not till end of Nov beginning Dec
Blacklines are OK.
I however find the rise at the rear to be too high, just kind of flops around and gets sweaty. They are lightweight but also heavy at the same time, when they're tumble drier fresh, they're relatively secure and go unnoticed, get a few rides in them, they soon stretch out, sag, fall down and get heavy as soon as there is any moisture from inside or out.
Is there some trousers which are a bit more fitted, a bit less give with maybe a just "shell" material? I fine the lining on the nukeproofs is probably the cause of the "heaviness" I feel with them.

I've got a set of the Decathlon ones. No complaints at all. Had to go up a size though.
I wouldn't buy trousers with an integrated pad myself, I use separate padded liners in all my shorts and trews, for many reasons.
Rapha have trousers in their archive sale as well, if you don't mind something colourful... feel better than the Decathlon ones... but then they should do. Sizes are more correct with these.
Anyone too nervous to order from CRC at the mo, I have some large blue NP Blackline trews that I don't want to risk sending back for a refund.
Keela roadrunners £54 on amazon.
a bit dearer than all the generic brands, but i have 2 pairs which are 10 years old. so the cost dont really matter.
