I usually find £50 in tks gets me something to last a few years but not today.

I want something fitted with a hood in medium weight for day to day wear.

Anyone seen anything?

Sportpursuit? Slightly over your budget but I have a couple of Fjern items which I like, stretch fleece and down gilet and they do a softshell jacket.

Costco - if you or a friend have a card - have great ones at the moment. Kirkland Signature own brand are easily the match of any of my more expensive branded ones. Under £25.

Nothing I have ever brought from mountain warehouse has ever have a hint or quality to it. I you want cheap, disposable and unlikely to do the job then maybe but otherwise I would look elsewhere.

Not to be confused with Mountain Equipment or Mountain Hardware who are quality but expensive.

Decathlon, I've got this one and it's perfect for what I use it for.

Mountain warehouse have a decent one for £25 odd, strange sizing though so might be best to try on in store.

I'm going to say the same old thing here - what is a softshell?

It ranges from a buffalo shirt to a plastic bag with some fleece backer. If you're not looking for performance then anything is fine really, you could probably find something in screwfix, sports direct or aldi/lidl. Decathlon is a good price point to aim for, also regatta, peter storm or dare2b should also fall into that bracket

I'll add that i have not found stuff from Mountain Warehouse to be of good quality

My most entertaining moment was trying a a floor chair. As i leaned back the stitching exploded......

Local Aldi have a thermal bike “soft shell” for £25. Picked up a long sleeve top or £9.99 which at XL fits like a glove so tempted to get the quilted soft shell which looks like a gillet with long sleeves

That Aldi top looks like it's been designed to help the rider blend in with the tarmac. What is it with cycling clothing and trying to make riders invisible on the roads?

I've got a grey car, no-one's ever moaned to Citroen about their "tarmacky" paint options.
