gather that the Saris Bones will fit - anyone got any experiences with this or any other rack? want to transport bike, it won't really fit inside, and mounted racks are expensive, if available. So a book-mounted rack is the best option - I know the bones isn't officially sanctioned, but be good to hear if others have managed with it or similar.....

want to take a couple of bikes, ideally.....

A mate of mine had a 2 bike rack on his Boxter - two L - shaped steel pipes attached to a bracket that bolts to the subframe, flexy as hell. Oh, it cost £800 😆

A mate had a rook rack for his Boxster which he used to carry his Demo about on, I know the earlier models can take a 'roof' bike rack - he had a Porsche one - attaches to the A/B pillars effectively I seem to remember.

Not sure about later models - When I looked in to 911's I was struggling to find one to fit.

I've a Saris Bones, but not a Boxster. The Saris is pretty much totally adjustable (including swapping the arms around), so should fit in one way or another. You need to try it though.

The 996 versions of the 911 can use the porsche roof rack system however nobody could guarentee that the same would fit a 997 and they are rare to find and try out. The Boxster might be able to use them but you'd need to check.

The modified rack on the boxter mentioned above is clearly a modification to the car. Looking at it for my 911 I found out it involved cutting out a section of the bumber and attaching to the chasis, probably invalidating any warranty. Didnt fancy that.

I've seen somewhere the saris bones, i think, on a pic of the boxster, might be worth looking up.

My solution was a duffbag for the frame, two wheel bags for the wheels, frame goes in duffbag in rear 'seats, wheels on passenger or in back with frame and gear bag in boot. It works... just!

Sure I've seen a Boxster at an event with some kind of roof rack system over the top - looked an official Porsche type product.

Also looked a bit odd, I have to say

I know about both the porsche official solution - expensive and no longer made - and the bird automotive one - expensive, and probably no longer made.....

so no-one has used a Saris Bones on a Boxster, it seems? will have to try and see I guess 🙂

There's one near where I live, i'll have a look see what make it is if i see it this weekend.

I think it's a proper Porsche though, not a Boxter. 😉

(Seriously, would this be an issue? Would it also fit a boxter? I have no idea)
