In the market for a 150-160mm fork and it doesn't look like there is anything to compete with the £270 Revelation RL's from Merlin...

Have I missed anything before I pull the trigger?

Buying new wheels at the same time so can go for either 15mm or 20mm axle. Hoping to pair them up with either an El Guapo or Trek Remedy in the nearish future for some all roundy/AM type stuff.

Whilst I do think those Revs are a bargain, when you're talking 150mm+ travel forks twinned with frames like the Remedy and El Guapo, imo I'd be kind of wanting to be stepping up from 32mm but 36s/Lyriks don't tend to come up with quite such bargain like prices, well not that I've managed to find...maybe others will know better 😕

I bought 150mm (spaced to 140mm) RLT Revs from Merlin a couple of months ago. For me it's a no-brainer - fantastic functioning, reliable bolt-thru fork at a bargain price. I've got them fitted to my Hustler. Highly recommended.

Nope. I've got some coming tomorrow!

Arrived and fitted today, setup but not ridden yet. One question, do I need to remove the red rebound knob (before it removes itself on the trail as per my Pikes)?

The budget is maxed out with those Rev's, unfortunately...

I'll be buying at the end of the week!

You could get hammered for the tax but Jenson in States is doing Revs RLT Ti for 349 dollars and some Lyriks for 449 dollars. Some other tapered and 1.5 options were even cheaper.

Do you know that they'll actually deliver to the UK though cb?

115-160mm U-turn Lyrics

Have I missed anything before I pull the trigger?

Only that the Rev chassis is stretched to the max and beyond in 150mm guise and although it perfroms sublimely on smooth buff trails, the legs will be walking through corners and twanging backwards and forwards everywhere else.

They're light for a reason.

I would probably go for Lyrics, but there's a massive cost difference unless I find a set of pristine 2nd hand ones for around £250!

Would recommend them all the same after a month you'll wish you hadn't bothered with the Revs.

Have had two pairs of Revs QR/20mm/std/tapered steerer both very disappointing in terms of stiffness. The internals write cheques the chassis can't cash.

conan, your weight and how/what you ride should influence your decision - I'm light (ish) and the lightness of the Revs suits me - put it this way - I'll be twanging before they do - but for other rider weight/styles/ riding etc they may not suit. That merlin price is pretty unbeatable at the moment.

That's not what I've experienced. I do a lot of steep, technical, rocky rides and have found them better in every respect than the Pikes I had before. I do accept however that if you are an aggessive rider who tends to pile through stuff at speed rather than using finesse that you would be better off with a 36mm stanchion

I'm under 12st and will be getting lighter, not a heavy ride at all.

Just ordered 15mm axle wheels, so committed myself to the Revs!

Cheers for the thoughts, I think that larger forks would bit a bit of a waste and extra weight which isn't needed.

In case it's important to anyone, unless I'm very much mistaken, there's no floodgate adjust on merlin's oem revs. The compression adjuster just has a 2.5mm screw holding it on, no cap to flick off to adjust floodgate.

Bought myself a pair of Rev. RLT off Merlin last week, they do have floodgate.

Still fiddling with the pressures, first pair of air forks I've had in quite a few years but TBH I havent really noticed a significant, if any, difference in stiffness to the pikes they have replaced and I've been deliberately riding hard at some pretty rocky stuff in an effort to get them set right.

Not in my expereince either. I had 150mm revs with 20mm axle and tapered steerer. No discernible flex even when braking heavily at enduro races or riding big, rocky terrain in Torridon or Skye. Maybe a little bit if you hammer on doing 30mph on the road but what's the problem?

I haven't noticed much difference since moving to 36s and lyriks.

Their RL ones have a gold removable cap which can be adjusted either using the red rebound adjuster from the bottom of the lower leg or a 2.5 mm allen key.

The RLT ones have adjustable floodgate using a gold knob (i.e. it's functionally exactly the same).

Floodgate really isn't an issue, I don't see why people would need to adjust it while riding... It should be a set up once things and leave it, I'd expect to do a summer of riding without tweaking it.

Sorry, to be clear, the £270 RL.

No removable gold cap, just a securing screw.

I weigh 90kg in my pants (mental image there for you), ride a Blue Pig hard (again another image for you...squeel) and I switched from 140mm Pike 454 (u-turn, dual air, 20mm axle ) to 150mm Rev RLTs (again dual Air, but 15mm axle) back in March/April time.

Are the Revs flexier? Yes, a bit.

Are the Revs lighter? Yes, a lot.

Is the damping better on the Revs? Yes, a lot.

Is the extra bit of flex worth the weight saving and better damping? Definitely!

I couldn't find anything close to the Revs for the money I spent on them in January (took my time getting round to fitting them) and I paid £320 or something!

At £270, they are a bloody steal!

Really? That's weird. I have those from merlin and the cap is definitely removable.

I'm looking to replace my Pikes (426) on a blue pig too.

Would be looking for coil uTurn though, do they do Revs in that format or is it all air these days?

Retro83 - when did you get yours? The non-poplock were out of stock for quite a while, I got mine earlier this week so perhaps they're from a different batch. Compression adjuster looks like:
