Building up a vintage road bike. Already got Honey Brown leather bar tape and saddle. My question is: what colour brake hoods?

Think brown would be too hard to match, what are the shifters? Modern or old? Think I'd just go black to be honest.

Possibly Be tempted with white hoods if campag shifters, or old shifters. Modern shimano/sram with coloured hoods might look try too hard in my book.

Bare metal if its proper vintage, white if its 80s/90s, black if it's modern kit

Surely they should be as they left the factory? Which would almost certainly be gum or black. Sounds interesting either way.
For what it's worth I think white is a bad choice. 🙂
