apologies for the numpty question but i do not have a torque wrench or know the rec torque.
i just got an ergon sr pro carbon saddle, just fitted to my ritchey wcs trail 2 bolt seatpost. have tightened it enough so it is firm atm but have yet to go out and test it on a ride (will do though later with my trusty allan key).
how strong are carbon rails regards how much you can tighten the seatpost? i had to tightem my old saddle quite a bit before it wouldn't move. am just worried that the same amount of tightening will crack the rails 😢
the rails on the ergon are def wider than the old saddle (height wise not width if that makes any sense?) and i cleaned everything of dirt, grit on the seatpost clamp before fitting new saddle so nothing would scar the carbon. the seat fits no problem to pist mount.
apologies for longwinded post and stupid questions 🐙
thanks in advance 😀
Check that the seat clamp on your post is carbon compatible - some carbon rails are not round, so you may need a new clamp kit as a round clamp will crush / damage it. If you use a carbon assembly paste, then the extra friction means you don't need to clamp it up so tight - it only needs to be enough to stop it moving
If the saddle was expensive
