My battered old 510 freeriders have finally surrendered. I've had them about 5 years and I'm surprised they've lasted this long. The outer sole and uppers are still OK, but the inner soles have disintegrated after one too many soakings.
I've had a quick Google and a lot of places have good deals but only in odd sizes. Wondering if I've missed something? After basic freeriders, not too fussed about old stock, last season's colours or whatever as long as they are not hideously lairy.
Last pair were UK 9.5, I read somewhere that you need to size up for newer ones. Is this true?
Nothing wild at the moment, but some good deals here: https://www.sportsshoes.com/products/z/mens/biking/shoes/?s=2&l=300
Evans have loads: https://www.evanscycles.com/brand/five-ten/freerider-sn99-140110
Thanks both, Evans looking promising as they seem to have plenty in my size.
I get mine from FB marketplace mostly - lots of worn once/bought the wrong size types going for little more than 1/2 retail
Nice prices on evans. Been pondering a new pair for a while, I’ve just ordered some.
2nded on the Evans prices - I quite fancy a pair of the white Pros for summer. ;o)
Ordered from Evans. £45 plus postage. Bargain! Thanks all 👍
Need some new ones but just can't bring myself to order from Evans.
Any other places doing deals?
Get some specialized 2FO DH shoes instead. I switched in February after years and years of being a devout 5ten wearer and right now I can't see me bothering to go back and grip has always been paramount to me.
Echoing GC specialized recommendations I'm on 2fo dh and the comfort is sublime ,grip is insane and they remind me of how five tens used to feel .
Imo the new 5tens have changed both in comfort and grip for the worse
However there is some fantastic deals on evans for 510
I got my spesh 2fo dh for 50 notes from balfa bikes
Imo the new 5tens have changed both in comfort and grip for the worse
absolutely. i replaced my freerider pro at the beginning of the summer. the grip is so poor that i wore them once and went back to my old ones with holes in.
absolute shite.
prodding with a nail in the shops, the specialized 2FO are much stickier.
£40 specialized 2FO flat shoes in a questionable colour but available in a range of sizes
Anyone know how the current crop of standard freeriders compare to the freerider pro size wise? At 45 quid I quite fancy a pair for those times I'm going somewhere that would benefit from something a bit less rigid.
Well my freeriders arrived today and I think they’re lovely. Super comfy. Felt good on the bike doing a lap of the garden… sat at my desk wearing them waiting for the day to end!
Ended up in a uk 8.5 despite normally being a 7.5-8. I’ve bought the 8’s too and they are definitely too small so will be returned.
