Does anyone have access to a 3D printer who is able to print me a on/off button for a garmin 1000?
I came across this one, but can’t find one in the uk.
Thanks Chris
Can you supply a cad model or STL or do you also need it designing?
I’d need the design also. Sorry, I didn’t think about that.
I didn’t think about that.
I get this at work all this time - people seem to think a 3D printer has an infinite library of all widgets ever made built in. The skill and time is in the modelling - pressing print is the easy bit!
No one is going to be able to help you unless they also have a Garmin 1000 that they are prepared to pop open so they can measure the thing to model (and the time to do it properly).
If you trawl some of the sites such as grabcad you might get lucky and find the component already modelled which will help your cause significantly.
There are a couple of models on thingiverse (3D file library) but I'm not convinced by either tbh as there seems to be a bit of glue and a fair bit of bodge involved.
Probably need printing in something other than PLA due to the outdoor temperature fluctuations.
All in all, I have a 3D printer and would think twice about printing that for myself.
Can you buy spares anywhere, even if it's a tenner it's probably worth it?
Thanks, I’ll have a look at grabcad.
I also just had a look a the mouldable glue stuff from Sugru. Might sort it if I can’t find a cad.

One of the comments mentions printing in TPU being a good idea!
