So i am building a fast SS commuter, is there any disc wheels out there with a low spoke count? - i checked DT, but can only find 24 holes wheels....
Hunt do 20/24 spoke wheels but not seen any with lower spoke count.
Not a good idea given the additional stresses that disc brakes put on your spokes - the spoke angles start to get a bit sub-optimal too
Only a fool commutes on low spoke count wheels. To save what, 150g?
I'd consider, 24 a bit silly itself, so losing another 8 or 12 spokes to save another 40-60g seems pointless. Next you'll be telling us you're using alloy nipples through the winter.
Might as well go fixed and ditch the rear caliper, you'd save a lot more weight 🙂
i have ridden a shimano ultegra 16 spoke wheel for 5 years with no problems, its all about technique ... hahhhaa
Frame is a Dolan carbon seta, with no holes for rear caliber, so you got me there...
DT do some 24 spoke wheels, i will probably look into that
