So, how does Stiniog compare with the usual French resorts? Obvioulsy the weather isnt the same and the general Blennau area is grim, but what about the trails?

I don't know a lot about Ffestiniog town, but the closely surrounding area is one of the most beautiful and quietest parts of Wales I've enjoyed visiting.

By usual french resort do you mean massive breaking bumps and pissed up brits? Not really seen a typical resort but I'm guessing there are less runs and no chairlift in wales...

I'm going to Stiniog tomorrow and I've been to Morzine before so I'm happy to update this post on Sunday and give you at least one opinion on comparisons. Although in reality, while I'm expecting to have a great time tomorrow I'm not sure they will really compare.
Snowdonia might be stunning, but there's a reason Ffestiniog has a National Park exclusion zone around it. The unfortunate grey colour of the area doesnt help.
I've not come across too many pissed up Brits in Chamonix, Valloire, Les Arcs etc, and tend to stay away from PdS area on my trips out there. Hopefully breaking bumps are a big issue in Wales yet, but they're obviously a favourite topic on STW.
I was thinking more about the grading of trails, surface and length etc, as I'm aware there are no chair lifts, croissants, or marmots.

Antur has Orcsis.
To compare it to Les Gets... Not as long as Chavannes, similar in size/length to the Nauchets area but not as varied. Better maintained tracks (or just newer) in AS but slippy in the wet. High chance of rain much like Les Gets 🙂 In terms of tech it's pretty similar. There's two blacks, a red and a blue which are of a similar grade to Les Gets IMO
If I'm in Antur or if I'm in the French Alps and the locals start rabbiting on, I generally don't understand what they're saying. In that sense, it's quite similar... 😀
Riding-wise, Antur isn't like anything I've ridden in Europe really. It's rocky as...and grey.
"Rocky as..." - good, I generally prefer the off piste riding at the bike parks in any case. Rain + slate can be a bad combo though. I climbed there once in a downpour and scared the bjeezus out of myself.
They're not that near each other but the new Bike Park Wales looks like it will have quite a few tracks - pretty much as many as some of the smaller bike park type places in the Alps (though probably not as long runs and no chairlift/gondola).
