I don’t know if this is a dumb question or not.
I’m racing this eve and it’s not going to be much below 30 degrees. Which is about 30 degrees hotter than I’m comfortable with!
Ive just realised I put on deodorant this morning. Is this going to make it more likely I overheat? I need all the help I can get, so should I go wash it off?
Won't make a difference - it's generally anti-bacterial in operation, won't stop you sweating
+1 on it making hee-haw difference to how much you sweat or overheat.
Hmm, isn’t the point of an anti-perspirant to stop me sweating? Will my other sweat glands have to work harder to compensate for my armpits?
If it says antiperspirant on the bottle it will reduce sweating, so yes you would be better to wash it off. I've never used antiperspirant for this reason.
If cycling you'll be sweating off your back and other parts of your body. I'd rather not have a pongy aroma
You'll still sweat - just less where you sprayed - so nice wet back and dryer pits lol
I think a paint roller would be more appropriate for my body 🤪.
I’m gonna go au natural I think. Could be all the difference between getting lapped one or twice.
If you reek like a dead horse it'll make it less likely that someone will sandbag you.
Not even sure Team Sky went for that level of marginal gains! 🤣
Good luck 🤞

Interesting - there'll be a shortage of paracetamol now lol

/blockquote>I discovered this to be somewhat true for myself quite by chance a few weeks ago. I thought I must be imagining it, so I tried it again and yes, a noticeable reduction in my sweaty mess-ness (which has to be seen to be believed).
Bit late for this race I'm afraid, but next time you should definitely carb load with pasta and lots of garlic. Garlicky sweat is scientifically proven to make you go faster, something about an increased molecular density around your body creating a slicker surface boundary layer, in turn making you more aerodynamically efficient.
Not quite sure where this marginal gain might help - will the whiff w no antideo scare people away from slipstreaming - giving you an advantage - or are they more likely to try and get ahead

As far as I know the two are different so it might depend on which one you used. I don't think all deoderants are anti-persirant but I might be wrong.
Update.
I was to late for the paracetamol so one to try next time.
I did wash off the anti-perspirant and let the sweat flow. Scored my best race result in years. Coincidence? I don’t think so 😉.
