Did front on Mon - WTB Vigilante on WTB ST si29 - tube out, jizz in - up first time. Tonight same rim but WTB Trail Boss - I can pull the tyre off with my fingers - big gaps so no matter how much pumping it's not filling. P@ssing me off now....what to do? How can 2 same branded tyres be so different?!
Moar tape and..
cheers cn, not seen that before. might get me out of a pickle at some point!
Two more wraps of tape and try again!
Good vid - tyre so slack it made no difference though. I have no tape Mike...shouldn't need any if 'tubeless ready' though
Strange, my new Trail Boss was the tightest tyre I've ever fitted. Perhaps they're a bit more variable than other brands?
Anyway, can you just send it back?
More tape is often the answer here
Chap - these were the tyres that came on the Whyte I just got.
Sherm - should I be buying a particular tape? Heard a Gorilla tape is better than rim tape...
Try a couple of layers of gorilla tape.
WTB sell rim tape too.
Haven't got time to wait for the likes of crc to deliver - heard a gorilla tape works and I can get that tomorrow...
Heard a Gorilla tape is better than rim tape...
It's thicker than most and it's more gas-tight than the average gaffer.
If you don't need to build up the rim bed it's not necessary.
Puzzled though, my experience of WTB tyres on WTB rims is ridiculously easy.
Vince - the front Vigilante was all done and held inside 10 mins...the rear is the yin to the front's yan.
Feel quite deflated about it.
If the tyre is new and been folded, it's normally a struggle. Try in installing with a tube and leave overnight before trying again.
Gorilla tape seems to have sorted it - stated up for 2 rides with no issues...
I use Gorilla tape on all my tubeless wheels!
