I don't know if it'll work on a 'proper' ratchet hub. The ratchets are the same but for ratchet LN there is a seal on the rotor. Before ratchet LN you could upgrade pawls with rotors that did not have this so perhaps if you removed the seal it would be fine.

I've got one of these arriving tomorrow with an M1900 wheelset I picked up the other day when it was heavily reduced. Not quite sure what I'm getting, but I wanted an HG freehub for Reasons.
My assumption is that it will be the 370 three pawl freehub, happy coincidence if it's a star ratchet.

I've been looking at this. The standard Ratchet LN 18 upgrade kits includes the freehub and bits and bobs needed (I think it's usually around £90). I think that it include 18 tooth ratchets which apparently have less points of engagement than the 3 pawl system. I think (although I'm not certain) that you can use finer ratchets.
I gather that to use this freehub you'd need the ratchet & springs (32 tooth would probably be enough for me) and a new hub ring. You'd also need a specific tool to remove the original hub ring and a specific tool to fit the new ring, so the whole process could be a bit costly (perhaps easier to let the LBS do the conversion).
The finer ratchet kits just seem to include the two ratchets & springs (which are used to upgrade the ratchets of hubs that already have ratchets). To fit them to a 370 hub I guess you'd need all the other parts shown in the Ratchet LN 18 kits & I'm not sure if you can get these separately (or cost effectively) unless anyone has links.

As pointed out in the OP. You can buy that bit separately (IIRC it is the same as the 350/240/180 non-exp ring). Yes the kit with ratchets and this rings is 'only' £80 normally but if you already have spare ratchets this is a cheaper upgrade path (I have ratchets, a spare drive ring and one of the two tools already).

The M1900 I've bought has a three pawl conventional ratchet. It can be upgraded to the star ratchet job, apparently - if you buy a full kit (or have the bits) per @Pjay 's post. I've bought what I thought / think is a three pawl HG freehub.
Is that right? If not, no biggie as far as I'm concerned as I can always upgrade to star ratchet at another time, and I'll just have to figure out what to do with that rear wheel with the microspline freehub instead of HG...
I think that the best option for me would just be to stick with the 3 pawl system which I believe is perfectly good (one of my Wiggle bargains was a G1800 wheelset for £170).
If it's any help to anyone, Merlin have Shimano MTB 3 pawl freehubs for £25.
They also have half price Microspline freehubs for ratchet systems.
@pjay in answer to part of your question the finer ratchets can be used in an ln hub. The difference between ratchets is the mating surface between the two ratchets. The ratchet to hub interface is the same.
@bentudder if you bought the same part I linked then it is the ratchet version. They did have a XD 3 pawl but now oos.

I bought those wheels from Wiggle a couple of weeks ago. They are ratchet and that free hub is a standard replacement freehub for the wheel.
The 'other/upgrade' ratchets engage faster, but are less reliable (I've read). I don't notice it being slow, just a lot quieter than Hope.
I have recent DT 350 hubs with the star ratchet system. I bought it with XD and Microspline freehubs. Presumably this would fit and give me the 3rd option? Or is it only compatible with 370 hubs?

The pair of M1900s I ordered from chiggle just turned up, along with the ratchet LN HG freehub. The freehub was a straight replacement, and it looks like there's a star ratchet in there rather than the old pawl system, too. It's slightly mind boggling that these came in at the same price as a pair of 28h rims I was shopping for to re-rim my existing Hope / Pacenti wheels. I'll still be on the lookout for rims, since there seem to be a fair few bargains out there.

i've got a mangled freehub from a 8 year old 350 hub (loose lock ring meant cassette dug in to splines)
Would this freehub work on old 350 star ratchet hub - or only on 370 ?
@zinger - check up-thread, but I think the answer is 'nope' - different seal and chamfer arrangement. Standard DT stuff will fit in a 370, but not the other way 'round, by the looks of it.
I was expecting three pawls and an eventual upgrade to star ratchet at a later date, but seem to have got lucky.

No, but I know people that have tried the cheap ratchet rings. Didn’t last and shed particles throughout the internals.
