I have one of these:

which normal fits in the end of a drop bar. I want to use it on a flat bar with MTB grips.
Has anyone done this? The plastic 'wing' mounts (right of pic) mean that fitting a grip/lockon over it is, well, impossible unless I trim away the inside of the grip, which is gonna be tricky.
I could try and fit it without the 'wing' mounts but it's not obvious how it would stay put then... mmm any ideas?
I've not found a compatible grip yet, and I doubt I will.
It can be done.
There was someone, possibly on MTBR or Weight Weenies, who fitted one in the and of a flat bar. I think he needed to file it doen a bit to fit but I can't remember the exact details.
I've managed to make a shim for it, so that it slots into the end of the bar, yet is protected to some extent. Hopefully this will do the job.
