Hope someone can help. I have built a MCE light - similar to aP7. Teh optic I have is a reflector but its a bit diffuse beam. I originally intended it as a bar light but am now thinking helmet light

Whats the tightest spot optic - reflector or lens you can get for the MCE / P7?

I know this is a bit of an issue with the P7 / MCE

Not sure, but are these any good - scroll to the Boom Reflectors at the bottom. The datasheet reckons the narrow one is 10 degrees and there's a beam shot....

TJ. the best optic for the MCE is the Ledil Iris give a nice long range beam
but it is quite large.

Ta trout. I built the entire light around 22 mm diameter 🙁 - altho this could be modified.

Where would I get one of these optics from?

Ah, I see TJ,

Thanks for the candlepower suggestion on the other thread... I'm just trying to fully understand this LED phenomenon.

I too have been trawling the threads, the info is there, but spread wide and difficult to pull together.

Regarding 'setting' 'clocking' the driver to run x array of LED's, do the drivers actually have a setting dial on the board?

Thx

Love tubs - I don't know about that

I hesitate to say too much as I will soon run out of knowledge.

I have never heard of clocking a driver tho - I use drivers from taskled or buckpucks - both constant current output drivers

That Pirrock also emailed me his links asking if I wanted to buy a light off of Him her .

Got your Mail TJ yep will drop it in the post on monday

LT the drivers dont need any interference from the user they see the Led load and supply them with the correct voltage and preset current

taking a typical XPG at 1 AMP drive current it will need a VF ( which strangly means forward voltage ) of approx 3.3 volts .
each led does vary in its VF .

so each led you connect in series adds its vf to the load upto the drivers threshold .

That little light you have has 3 XP??? leds in so VF will be around he 10 volts ish . the driver needs a little power to feed it about 1 volt
so for a Buck ( step down driver ) your battery needs to be above 11 volt to keep leds and driver in harmony .

The taskled driver do have a sofware sort of clock which can be user configured . but nothing to tweak with tools .

BCTs driver are hard wired to give a set amount to the leds but tweakable with a resistor.
