for the record, it's SRAM xx1 crank
i tried fitting a Hope BB tonight with a GXP adapter fitted, and i have a bit of a problem... the bearing on the non drive side (the side with the adapter fitted) doesn't spin.... so when i install the crank arms to correct torque setting the crank will barely move.
so i took the cup out and installed it on the crank out of the bike and sure enough, the cup is one solid mass along with the crank. this rules out any issue with the frame/spacers etc
i plan to give Hope a ring in the morning and failing that a trip to the LBS, just wondered if anyone could offer any advice?
When I had this problem it was down to having pushed the bearing out a bit when putting in the inner half of the GXP adaptor - this then compressed the dust seal, binding it all up.
Cheers man, I'll have a look into it 😉
I had this issue with a Hope PF BB and an XX1 crank - after much measuring and messing about the fix was to get the outer lip of the top-hat spacer (which presses in to the NDS bearing) machined down so that it now 0.5mm.
