Currently set up for commuting duties with 29inch. Also used it a couple of times for bikepacking and is basically the pub bike.
Now winter is here the full suss will get used less and I've started hankering for a hard tail.
Is it worth trying to get a front suspension fork that can be swapped out?
Anyone tried it?
As far as I know, only the 2016 version with the Aluminium fork was suspension corrected - you won't be able to use a bouncy fork if it's a 2017 or later model...
My MK1* is frame-corrected for rigid forks. Longitudes are supposed to be hard up front with plenty of rubber between you and the trail. If you want a hardtail then you’ll have to N+1 or choose between. I’m currently in this predicament as running both a hardtail and the Longitude is a PITA for me with little dry storage and the joint upkeep. Thinking of going 29+ and 1x10 on the ‘tude and losing the P7, but I would miss the a hardtail, even if it’s not currently earning it’s keep (needs new forks, new powder coat, new drivetrain, new front wheel etc)

Thanks for the input. It's a great hack for commuting on bridleways and lanes but if I was going to do a longer tour (I live in the south downs) a bit of cushioning would help!
Currently got 29×2.2 tyres but could get a 650b set for more volume and comfort.
One set for commuting, other for long off road hacks.
Ment to say, it's a 2018.
I set mine (2017) up pretty similar, currently commuting with 29x2.0" and mudguards, which works well. Normally I have 27.5"x3.0" tyres for bike packing and off road riding. There is a huge difference in comfort when you have bigger tyres on, very rarely do I wish I had suspension on the front, in fact my hardtail (high latitude) hardly gets ridden anymore unless I'm doing technical stuff. Personally I'd recommend investing money in a set of plus wheels and tyres rather than a fork, if you really want suspension you're better off changing frames.
Thanks. Not used my CTW voucher for this year yet, so might go down that route.
