😆 "casually riding", how should they have been riding, I wonder.
well as long as he wasn't "furiously driving"
Nevermimd the lack of a front brake, I'd be more worried about these malicious lies about a road cyclist 😯
Chap was early 70s probably, had a big smile on his face
How hard is it to track stand a penny farthing?
Another....at it again
er... "Thursday 14 April 2016"
Oh, I know but it came up on my FB timeline and fitted recent events perfectly. Call it poetic licence or whatever.
In other news, it wasn't a hipster and it's not even a fixie really.
Can you freewheel them then?
The front wheel is fixed so technically he has a front brake (feet), but chances of stopping one is quite slim.
Could use the emergency stick for a brake?
Sounds safe that 😉
1 1/4ds sometimes had a front brake operating on the solid tyre. Can't see from the pic.
There's usually a second brake too. The brake lever moved a series of rods which push a leather pad against the solid rubber tyre.
Surely there is a brake acting directly on the tyre?
In other news I rode my fixed wheel 105 km yesterday and had nothing untoward happen. The nice thing was I didn't have to put my foot down once in three hours 😀
