So I now started building the frame that needed the mec hanger identifying.
Cube red white and blue 2014
All the specs on the websites say the seat post is 31.6, so off I went and brought a cheap eBay one just to get it going.
But it only goes in to the bottom of the slot in the frame 25mm ish. I've felt for obstructions and there is nothing.
Is there any one that can confirm in real life the post size for a cube? Could it be 31.4?
The post from my giant anthem is 30.9 and rattles so in theory it can now only be 31.4. Before I order another one I would like to confirm first.
It was only going to be a cheaply built thing! Spares box build up.
Also just found out don't mix shimano gear lever with a sram mec, need a shimano 9 speed mec now.
Every day's a school day.
So today after spending some time trying to work it out I have come to the conclusion that, perhaps someone has had a short seat post and bent the entry to the top f the frame by hanging it too high. I managed to get it to go in 40mm but thats it.
I'm about to push the button on a 31.4 post to see if it goes in.
It's only £8 worth a punt?
Cheap seat post out of spec, Maplin do some cheap digital vernier calipers that help with situations like this.
I have access to some but the problem is to get a true measurement you need to be able to go at least 50mm down the seat tube.
Check the eBay seat post is actually the size quoted with the vernier.
Thanks for the idea, but I've done that I put it in another frame and it fits fine.
