Six laps of he Glentress 7 appears to have pretty much finished off my halo rear hub. It's certainly being very noisy, periodically sticky, and grinding quite severely. It has already been rebuilt twice in the last 18 months or so which suggests to me that a change might be in order.
With reliability and not too outrageous a cost being my only real requirements, what are people using?
Hope Pro4 or DT 350 (or any DT with the start drive)
IMO only of course.
Personal preference, but DT swiss is a good durable hub, easy to maintain, quieter and you can upgrade star drives to get higher engagement hub if that's a factor. On their 350 range, there's a limited interchangeability of end caps, none at all on the front.
Hope is very popular and excellent build quality, but you pay for that.
Novatec are good hubs and have a nice feel, but I've no idea on durability.
Superstar is cheap and comes with a good warranty but two friends that went down this route had to use that earlier than I would have expected.
Thanks. I think I'm sort of leaning in the direction of hope just from the durability side of things.
