Poor sods.

Load of stock and demo bikes nicked during the night.

That's shite. Hope they get back on their feet soon.

Trail centre bike shops are easy targets though. Thieves could make as much noise as they like and know they aren't going to get disturbed until morning

Am I naive to think that a bike shop should at the very least have a shutter? Wide open windows like that in a remote place is an invitation to scumbags. I hope the missing stock is found.

Agreed, they shouldn't have to but in this day and age it is needed.

Cameras don't really help as they just get a video of a bloke in a mask and hoody, alarms don't help if they can be in and out before the police or owners can respond.

No, but you may be naive to think that every bike shop can afford one.

Good point, and they may be on one of those competitive tendered forestry contracts where they could lose the business after three years or whatever, if someone else comes in with a better bid.

Like the Hub at GT.

Thieves are scum. Hope they crash the things and do themselves a severe injury.

You’re correct, but they can still help - timings, clothing, vehicle types - all things that can be tied in with other info. There’s still a lot of work ongoing in the background after the Laggan and Grantown ones, and these things can be useful.

Need those exploding micro-dot paint things which cover the burglers in tracable paint.

Is this the same group? Similar MO, and isolated rural businesses.

I'd be worried if I was break pad or other remote shops

You should be allowed to boobytrap your premises, a nice surge of electricity to knock them off their feet and soil themselves or a bear trap or two chained to the wall so the scumbags will still be there in the morning.😀

Sadly this is the result of a pent up demand for bikes. Thieves see a market and steal to fuel it. Absolutely not a justification for it to happen and I feel for any business that goes through this but it does sort of explain the why.

Need those exploding micro-dot paint things which cover the burglers in tracable paint.

Smar****er (UV dyed and impossible to scrub off, you have to let the skin flake off over a few weeks) and a Fog Bandit are the two best things you can do for a business. The fog means they can't see what they're doing and the water directly links them to the location.

Aye great, until nobody is prepared to put out a fire.
