Boardman CX Comp 2018

- currently running FSA Vero 2x compact, 68mm X 104mm BB.

- changing to Spa Cycles 2x compact.

I don't think I need to change the spindle length?

Just direct replacement...68mm x104mm?

It's a 'how long is a piece of string' question. Depends on the relative offset of the chain rings to the taper. Suck it and see.

Which cranks exactly? Most of their cranks are designed for 110 or 113mm spindles. There’s no harm in trying a 104 but it might not play nicely with the top end of the cassette and there’s a remote chance you may even have clearance issues at the chainstays.

Thanks Bez - I'm being a plum, and you've helped by making me go back and look... 116mm apparently?

I have a similar chainset on a 113mm BB on my Genesis Equilibrium. Still plenty of chainring clearance. You may be ok with a 104mm axle, but depends on how wide your chainstays are.

IME, chain line doesn’t really matter as long as you’re in the ballpark since you generally use the larger half of the cassette with the inner ring and vice versa.

116mm apparently

Seems so. Unusual size… Worth a punt with the 104, although it’s pushing it, 6mm inboard of where you should be (assuming you’ve got a 130mm back end). Otherwise IIRC 113/115/118 are all easier to come by and would almost certainly be fine.

Maybe wait until you have the cranks and measure? (Sorry if that is too obvious) presumably you could also order a couple and send some back. Or try it on your existing BB then order?
