A wee report on the Beeb
That was written by our adopted team member Dan ('the lonely puffer' on here)
He met us in his Lifeboats van so I just assumed he worked full time for them however he is in actual fact a BBC employee.
He put in a great shift with consistant 1 hour laps the rest of us were the week links!
I see he used my pics too 😀 Thats my wife heading up the fire road at 0600hrs.
A nice wee report on a great event!
Was a pleasure to have you on the team Dan.
Cheers
Paul.
Where did smee and TJ finish?
smee finished on mlehworld.com.....
Tj is basking in the glory of 26th solo I think ( of 42??) 9 laps.
Thats good, where you happy with that?
Awesome result Teej. Great stuff mate.
Not really. I was aiming for 20th and half the leaders laps but I simply had to stop for a few hours as my upper body was so tired I couldn't hang on to the bars and kept on crashing. Not my legs or my head that gave out but my arms
Not greatly disappointed but not as good as I hoped.
Being something of a sloth, I'm still in awe of everyone who rode that event. Even more so for those who did it solo. Take that guy above, 9 laps of 9 miles...mid winter, real off-road course, though the night. Total respect to all of them.
As a 24hr event beginner, what would be a sensible event to enter ?
(As a quad team, a solo attempt would be somewhat be out of my abilities).

The lap is only 7 miles IIRC. I am no racer at all - reasonably fit for pushing 50 but as anyone who has ridden with me will know I ain't quick.
It has a great atmosphere but its perhaps the hardest physical challenge I have done ever. 11 solo laps at sits was so much easier.
one of the flatter events for sure.
Mayhem was significantly easier than relentless and puffer 24
as soloists anyway.
also smee came 2nd in quads
