I'm going to (hopefully) get a set of rims which i'd like anodized in metallic orange. Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas of price?
Steve The Anodiser (Acorn Plating) is your man. Though if they've got eyelets it might be more complicated?
Cost, don't know- can't remember exactly what I paid, £15 for 2 hub shells IIRC and somewhere around the £100 mark for my frame, in 2 colours including return postage. So it's pretty comparable to quality paint, really.
You can't really do a metallic finish but with my orange, it's got a good sparkle from the underlying metal. Wee bit of colour change in it dependant on light brightness, can't really show it in a photo but it's really nice- in low light it goes over to a redder, flatter orange.

£100 is a good price, can you anodize any metal, what about carbon?

You'd likely have to mask off the eyelets, which would be a sizeable ball-ache. if it's not eyeleted the holes will get slightly bigger when the old stuff (if currently anodised) is etched off. Might not be a problem, no idea what spoke hole tolerances are like.

ha! so it is just for aluminum, really had no idea.
just metals, mostly done to Alu, but often Ti too, the colour is result of dyes added during the process.

hhhmmmmmm, assuming you want to brakign surface silver then there's going to be extra work trying to mask it off. Could always just brake on the anodised surface, but it might look a bit scabby before long
