Putting together a new build - my heart says 'buy those colourful orange cranks', but my head says 'heel-rubbed into shabbyness within one ride'.

Anything that can be done to minimise the damage, or do I just need to suck it up and buy some boring silvery cranks...

Stop rubbing your heals on them.

Stick some heli tape to them if you can't avoid rubbing on them.

Accept they are a bike part and going to get trashed.

Or just stick some Deore on when you go riding and swap the nice ones back on when you get home if you want to sit and look at it 😀
