I saw it on the cycling plus twitter feed. Andrew has some interesting opinions.

A quick Google reveals that between 1999 and 2008 (a similar time frame to the one in the article), there have been 32,298 deaths on the road. Cyclists are a really rather small proportion of this number.
Personally I'd hate to have to commute in London, yet go to somewhere like Cambridge and you'll see it is the car that has no place on the city roads. Bikes dominate the inner city.
I can't decide if it's a serious article or he's being deliberately obtuse just to generate a reaction (like that radio station boss a few weeks ago).
