Quick rant - building up new gravel bike so splashed out and bought 1x GRX groupset. All good until I try fitting the rear brake - turns out you need an adaptor for a 160mm disc. Ah well, £12 lighter and off I go - apart from it still won't work as they do 6 different lengths of mounting bolts (yes 6!) and of course the brakes don't come with the length I need - so its' another special order, another wait and a further £12 for 2 bolts - b*st*rds! Oh, and just to add insult to injury my ham fisted spannering means the fluid is leaking at the lever end, so it'll need a bleed, probably new olive/inset/possibly hose etc, etc... rant over! Better be good when its' working...
Flat mount fun?

You do for post mount as well so no difference there.

I think frame manufacturers should either provide the correct length bolts or all agree on a standard mount thickness (haha!)
or all agree on a standard mount thickness (haha!)
You could even standardise the whole brake fitting "thing" across the world. Maybe call something like International Standard or something like that...

Or stick with post mount.
Having said that, why no flat mount MTB's, surely the same advantages (i.e. none, but it looks neater)
Yes, flat mount - first time of dealing with it, so its' a whole new lot of frustration to go through.
Thing is, the frame I ordered gets sold as a full bike with 160mm rotors, so assumed (stupid, I know) that it might have been designed with that in mind. The adaptor I can cope with, but six different bolt sizes - really?
The MTB bikes & frames I have bought that are sold with 180mm discs have come with post mount drillings, so that calipers can go straight on, so you don't always need an adaptor.

Don't Cannondale use it on their xc bikes?

This isn't a mtb frame though. Road frames / forks are generally designed to run 140mm rotors natively.
Cut some bolts to length?
aren't they funny bolts with a bit on the end for a safety clip, in case they unscrew and fall out? (cos they screw in from underneath on the rear)
I don't think so..my tripster ones were just dull ol' bolts...
DrP
aren’t they funny bolts with a bit on the end for a safety clip
Yes, they are
The are special bolts, with a safety thing.
But bolts cut to length and some thread lock work here too. That’s what’s I’d do. That’s in fact what I did rather than pay £8 for two bolts.
And death has not ensued. Yet.
Yup - I just cut bolts to length.
Flat Mount appears on some Cannondale, Whyte, Genesis and Saracen MTB frames.
