Any idea how to remove the drive side BB so I can get rid of the old e-mount chain guide that has welded itself to the frame?

It is currently soaking up the oil and penetrating fluid hoping it will move in the morning

Which way are you turning it to loosen?

You're turning it clockwise, right?

I have the proper tool.

On the drive side, it is the normal thread pattern right? Lefty loosey, Righty Tightey?

Please confirm because tomorrow I will move on from muscle power to a 4lb lump hammer.

Thanks

Is it a steel frame?

If so, soak in coca cola (or pepsi)

The phosphoric acid should help free it up

Drive side - Left hand thread, so lefty tighty, righty loosy

For "Normal" BB to undo, turn towards the front of the bike.
A tip passed to me many many years ago.

Smooth shifting and silent loveliness

I had forgotten how nice new transmission shifts are and Shimano is so easy to install and set up

It's always DRIVEL:

DRIVE (side) = (equals) LEFT (hand thread) 8)

Hth - in the future

but what if you put the spanner so the handle is down at the bottom?

the way I remember it is by remembering that if a BB jams it will undo from the frame under normal pedalling and push out onto the crank arms instead of tightening and jamming into the frame.

Once I had removed the BB I saw some little writing saying TIGHTEN with arrows pointing the right direction to tighten the BB. If only they had ones saying loosen I would have been alright!
