Pretty pipedream thinking right now, but hell everyone else is bored as much as I am.

I had an idea to see if you could link every single one of the best singletrack Lakeland descents into one ride, whilst carrying your kit (light bikepacking kit, hostel to but etc).

A bit like the Lakeland 200, except taking every possible detour to get in rideable singletrack (at the bare minimum, every descent on lakesmtb.com). Proper bikes required.

What would be on the absolute must hit list?

What have I missed?

Hi Joseph, i sadly dont know this area very well, but that looks really brilliant.
Have you posted it on bearbones forum?
Im sure plenty there would appreciate it too, and offer feedback too.
This is in my Fantasy Bikepacking list for when this wretched serues of events is over.

Ian

Well that looks like a magnificent idea. I fancy giving something like that a go over a few days.

76 - 78 would be pretty tough going.

I think the South loop around Grizedale is all backwards. I’d try and go down parkamoor and ickenthwAite and up breasty haw down to visitors centre and finally down Lawson Park all rideable with the best descents. You could add down the fox and up esthwaite hall after breasty haw to complete all the forest.

gkeefe - you are correct - I will readjust. Would that route work in reverse or is it worth changing fully?

Cool idea, I'd love to be the person fit enough to take this on in one trip.

Shouldn't 62-68 follow the singletrack around the shoreline?

I think you could start at moor top do the last bit of the nface trail to the visitors centre then back up the nface single track to parkamoor down to Nibthwaite then up over Bletherbarrow to ickenthwaite, back to Satterthwaite up breasty haw, down to the road back up esthwaite hall and down to the visitors centre. From there straight over to Lawson park and round Coniston lake to the bottom of walna.

<Cough> Greenup? </Cough>

It's a good effort, but there's a few other bits that might make my soul ache on a fully-loaded bike!

Might have a play myself and see what I come up with.

Fixed the routing around ullswater and some of Grizedale. Keefe - you're gonna have to put that on a gpx for me to use - I'm not familiar enough with the forest to go off of your directions.

Greenup felt like a little too much of an 'out and back' to feel like it fit into the round. It's also a lot of hike a bike with packing kit.

My main issue is finding a better route over the western fells. I did consider just going over the ridge to great gable etc but that would make for a brutal and unforgiving last 3rd.

I also suspect that skiddaw should come first, as if you're rolling into keswick after 220km there's no way you'd find the motivation for another out and back and will probably just collapse into the fell pack.

Really interested in a route like this. Something to attempt at the end of this summer (hopefully)
