Just sniffing out other people's experiences of these wheels, in particular hassles with them and their warranty experience, if any.

Just related to issues I'm having with mine, specifically cracked rim (front wheel, on a fireroad!) and company is refusing warranty replace. I know of one other person who's cracked two of these rims also, which makes me wonder about the quality of these rims.

And general experiences of carbon rims - do they just crack easily? !!

Was it yours I saw in Pedal and spoke last weekend?

That's the one 😉

Should add, P&S are not the problem, doing a great job but they're trying to get AC to sort out warranty and they flat refuse claiming I've had a massive stack or ridden them on the rim, both of which are BS. Though they're offering crash replacement but I hadn't even crashed!

I should point out at this juncture that the damage might have been done ages ago, and the fact that it went on a fireroad is irrelevant pretty much...

Thats said I know how you ride Deadkenny... must be a warranty job 😉

Exactly. No way I could break them the way I ride 😀

But with any warranty on wheels, how can they prove damage may have been done earlier (which is also one of their claims) and thus invalidate warranty?

People seem to just get some brands replaced no question so long as they are under warranty and no evidence to the contrary showing you've been a dick with them. If they claim they're "tough" and stuff like this rarely/never happens (also what they've said), then it's small cost to cover the odd replacement under warranty. If however they're doing these replacements a lot... well 😉

Turns out another came into the shop recently, crack in a very similar way.

Meanwhile, AC are just refusing to budge, or acknowledge calls and emails from myself or shop.

Confidence in carbon wheels now gone for me. Definitely in American Classic carbon wheels, in durability and poor support/warranty.

Pic BTW...

Oh, and I'm told they returned it to the shop with fresh rim tape on it, as if to say I can still ride it! 😮

I'm always quite open with my experiences of carbon wheels - I could pop outside and take a picture of most known brands of the carbon world, from the crazy expensive down to the cheaper end of the scale.

All of which look the same, or worse.

Ironically I have a set of DT Swiss carbon wheels on my 29" bike - they are probably the only brand I haven't broken yet. I think they will be for everything other than racing though.

It might be worth taking them to the carbon repair place in Dorking - see if they can do anything with them? Proving it's a warranty issue is a tough call though. I've had some warrantied due to odd failures, such as spokes pulling through the rim, and extensive cracking around other spoke holes.

Can you trust it if it's been repaired? Once cracked I thought it's just a write off.

I don't see why not, plenty of super light carbon road bikes get repaired? Got to be worth a call at least?
