flash sale on the model i am interested in Planet X Tempest SRAM Force 1 Titanium Gravel Bike – Planet X Bikes (currently £1999.99 reduced from £2499.99).
my local bike shop have very kindly offered to order said bike for us but as you know with px they seem to do regular flash sales. do you think they might do one anytime soon for the model or should i expect it to stay at the price atm?
ta in advance 🙂
Eh?
It's in a flash sale, do we think it'll be in a flash sale?
It's this a plane on a treadmill question? Or something about an allotment?
Also, why are your LBS ordering a bike from PX for you? Is it on credit for your brother?
yes the bike is for me (i will be paying it off in installments as the manager has very kindly done this for us before.
just wondering really if they might do flash sales still after the sale of planet x recently? just wondering what others might think about whether they might think so or not?
Ah, so it's not on [a] sale at the moment then?
I imagine they'll be back to reductions in due course but, honest opinion and nothing more, looking at the rebrand and change in pricing they don't want to be DFS cycles any more.
thanks @dangerousbrain that seems like what will happen (the bike is reduced atm from £2499.99 to £1999.99 but not a flash sale as such.
am hoping at some point the might do one of the special flash sales again but won't hold my breath atm due to buyout etc.

You know they were never much more special than the non flash sales yeah?
That’s a decent price for a Ti Sram Force bike. I’d be buying it at £1999.
I have the EKAR version. Very good bikes. Mine has had a fair few upgrades, probably should have gone with Force…..

@dangerousbrain - very occasionally you could get a proper bargain. I bought my Tempest when it was reduced to £2300 for a few days (from £3100). They then did a 10% sale on the entire website….but weirdly when I added it to the basket, added the code, the total cost was £1800. I didn’t think it would have been honoured but it was.

At that price its best to buy it now
I bought my PX Tempest Sram Force 1 nearly 2 years ago for £1800 in a sale which was reduced from £2100 if I remember correctly
£1660 for an Ultegra one here, a couple of years back.
great bike.
Thanks all will order it today 👍
There's 15% off when re-registering an account on their new website; not sure if it applies to complete bikes, but worth a look.

I've bought a few from Planet X / On-One, always bought on their various finance schemes, usually taking advantage of 0% - are they not doing these now?
I didn't know PX did B2B. If your LBS is buying it from PX and then selling it to you, are they happy to deal with the warranty issues? (This is PX so hardly a hypothetical question).

"Manufacturer says its not covered. Sorry."
"You don't even know what's wrong yet"
"we don't need to. Manufacturer says its not covered"

"Umm, yeah - we called Waltly about your Ti frame - when they stopped laughing at us they said they'd like the £150k we owe them before they'd talk about warranty claims..."
It will almost certainly be cheaper at some unknown point in the future.
But if you think it's a good price now, go for it.
