Fitting a SRAM 10-50 cassette and GX eagle chain
SRAM GX shifter
Shimano xt rd 8100 derailleur
New inner and outer

Derailleur hanger alignment is perfect
Mech end stops perfect
B tension gap is 46mm from bottom of teeth to centre of the jockey wheel bolt as per si.shimano
Chain is the correct length as per si.shimano
Cable is routed correctly and not getting caught anywhere
Cable is correct side of the bolt and routed correctly
All new components bar mech and chain ring - mech is a couple of hundred miles old.

Issue:
Works well in all gears bar 2nd biggest where it doesn't mesh at the back of the cog and tries to jump onto the 50t and drops back down.
If I reduce the cable tension it works but then is sluggish to change from the 10t up the block.

Have I missed anything??

Before the new cassette and chain it was shifting well bar the middle range.

I have this setup on a bronson v2 and it's fine. Have you used the marks on the back of the cage for the b screw?

Is this on a stand or when riding?

If stand, I’d set it as close as I could and go for a ride as the suspension movement will change the chain tension a fair bit.

Does sound like the b tension could do with a tweak and riding will allow things to settle a bit better.

Bent or wonky tooth on the 1st or 2nd cassette cog? Big burr on one of the teeth? I know it's new but maybe a quality issue or transit damage. Stray cable strand just in the wrong place to catch on something?

How old is the chainring? You mention the quite new mech, but not the ring.

edit - ah, one on order. Can't harm to change that too.

On a stand, riding is better but not the standard I want. Hoping that the worn Chainring is the culprit, realistically just doing a checklist here 👍
