I seem to have talked myself into buying a used bike through a local facebook group.
It's alot of money (for me) and I'm panicking that im paying over the top.

I don't really have much of a clue but I'm hoping you guys could help me out.
Is this a good buy at £600?
You're not an idiot but it's not a great bike. CRC would have punted those out for about £900, and that one ,judging by the cranks and chainstay has been well used.
They are heavy, the shocks blow, and the linkages crack frequently.
Sorry meant to add that this will be for a "beginner" non frequent rider not a "trailblazing expert"
It looks ****ed cosmetically - fork crown, cranks, stays. They've taken the lockout lever off, they're expensive to replace if you want a lockout - you can't use it without one, unless they've modified the damper.
It's not a bad bike, just not great.
You haven't paid anything for it yet.
If you don't want it, let the seller know and find something else.

Regardless of the riders skill or lack, it's not a great bike. It's Lapierre's budget full suspension platform. Lapierre are expensive badly equipped bikes that frequently break, even when they cost £5000. X-Control's suffer badly from cracking linkages. Since you're not the original owner you will not be able to get it replaced. Those oem shocks are also completely crap, and frequently blow.
If you were my friend I'd tell you to steer clear and spend your £600 on a hardtail. If you must go full sus then I'd be keeping my eyes open for a second hand Canyon, Vitus or similar that hasn't been abused. There will be no difference in frame quality, but they'll have better geometry and they sell based on a high spec, not a semi boutique name.
I'll just move this to the bike forum. 😆

That's utter bullsh1t but that bike is not a good buy at all.
Ive got a 2008 scott scale 30 for sale, just waiting for the forks to get serviced and its good to go. Have a look at my previous posts, its only that price because of age and not condition.

How many have you sold timmys?
Doesn't look like an awful deal, but it's not a bargain. If you keep on looking you'll see some brilliant full suses come up for that sort of money.
Or buy a good hardtail new, as above.
Yes ..
Just say you've changed your mind !!
It'd be a good buy at £600 if it was new! I'm not easy on my bikes but I've never managed that amount of cosmetic damage, even my trusty Rocky Ridge that I threw at the scenery for at least 6 years!
Spend the same on a second hand hardtail. A cheap full sus is rarely a good buy.
And yes, Snapierres do have reputation for... well... snapping.
