I was trying to bend back some dents on my rear rim but I might have created a crack on one of them, losing all air through it when inflating. Then, I left the tyre inflated without sealant and it's still retaining air, no escaping as before. How can it be possible?
Is there a way to repair it to avoid buying a new set of wheels?
Crack! Structural repair; no. Technically yes; but not worth the time, effort & cost.
Functionally, perhaps with the addition of sealant it might be a non issue. Give it a try with some sealant & see how it goes.
Pictures would help.
Next time soften it up a bit with a hot air gun / blow torch, Al has quite a low melting point and less likely to crack.
If it comes to it, you can buy a new rim with the same ERD and switch it over very easily and cheaply.

I am traveling this weekend and didn't want to risk my holidays. So, ended up buying a new wheel set, anyway

pro tip (or school tech tip)
rub bar of soap on it the het it with the blow torch, when the soap turns black its good for bending.
eh... are rims heat treated?
