So I've done the turbo thing for the last few winters but struggled to find the motivation this time around. I've used trainerroad and sufferfest etc.
I think my problem is that my turbo / road bike is the same bike they I commute on 5 days a week so naturally this time of year its black, filthy and grimey. When I get home from work my tyres are tyres are often wet and just slip on the turbo meaning I can't use it effectively. I also get covered in muck setting it up and it makes a mess on the floor. It's just a bit of a chore constantly setting it up and taking it off the turbo every time I use it.
What I'm looking for, is a static alternative, dare I say it - an exercise bike?!
Just wondering what's out there? It would be great if it measured watts and was compatible with the likes of trainerroad although not essential.
The Wattbike looks ace but that's very pricey! Any alternatives?
A friend of mine uses an old spinning bike he got from a gym on eBay. Very heavy piece of kit but takes up less space than a bike on a turbo. And cleaner!!
There so many out there. Really want one where I can use my own pedals and want it to be as realistic to riding a real bike as possible.
Spend the money on a bike that you will just use on the turbo?
I'd previously dismissed the idea of a turbo only bike but now you've mentioned it.... It really does make sense. Especially given how cheap some of the decathlon bikes are selling on eBay.
Alternative to Watt bike?

+1. I'm lucky to have pinched the GFs old bike, which was my size, not hers. but it makes such a difference to have a turbo bike.
triban 3, that £250 halfords cx or second hand on here would be good options. it doesn't need to be anything special....
