Loving my Hans Dampf front. Replaced the rear with a nobby nic when it got ripped.

Faster but less comfy. On a ragley blue pig

I want a big volume, low profile tyre. I'm based in the south, so not a lot of rock.

Maxxis Advent? Panaracer Comet? Shall I just suck it up and get another Hans dampf. Racing ralph?

I think the thing which I hate about the NN is the gaps between the paddle like blocks.

Cheers

Alex

I quite fancy the X-king. Never had a conti before. They wear out quick, right?

Advantage might do it- still quite gappy but generally a much better tyre than the Nics.

PS, does anything wear out faster than a Nobby Nic? They're made of cobwebs and bad dreams.

I've got MKs on the bike at the moment, but (due to #2 small child arriving in Mar) I'd be lying if I said I'd put enough miles on them to know how long they're going to last.

Thread here suggests Racing Ralphs aren't the most long-lived if that helps.

I'm still looking for an alternative 2.25 which is as light as a NN.

Blue pig here, have run a few different tyres and my favourite is an ardent exo 2.25. Rolls well, comfy and gripswell Iin everything apart from greasy mud.

I changed from running NN front and rear to conti x-king front and NN rear, works a treat, the x-king is much better up front than the NN. Go for a x king, I've heard that mountain kings are good all round tyres. This is my first non schwalbe tyre! And I must say I'm impressed with the x king.

I'm astonished how quick the new compound schwalbe NN wear out... I've ruined a rear in less than 2 months without skids an normal trail use.

Just out of interest, how do you know it's ruined. Do you notice a sudden loss of grip or is it more a visual thing? My NN rear is sliding all over the place at the moment. I reckon that has more to do with the trail than the tyre, but I'm not sure how I could tell the difference.

Quite hard-wearing too.
