So my superstar nano Evo X’s have lost some grip and I think it’s that the pins have rounded off. Have the standard 8mm pins in there now.

They came with spare longer pins but they look scarily shin / calf munching - toying with the idea of trying them to see how they are.

Spare normal pins are £20 a pack which is a bit steep and I’m loathe to pay that.

Are there any other cheaper pin options that fit? I’ve seen some Spank ones that look similar and are about a quarter of the price. Standard superstar ones are 8mm on the nanos I believe.

Edit - I don’t trust myself to file the existing ones back square again without making shin slicers out of them

They are just M4 so fill your boots with anything you like

Pins are custom made for us in millions per batch but that’s a tiny order for that sort of thing. They are ED coated so they don’t rust and are grippier than normal full thread. Heads are slightly smaller too.

To be honest once you have counted them out, bagged/labelled, picked, packed, posted, paid card fees, turned the lights on, paid the staff and paid your vat on them we make naff all on them at £20 anyway.

Original model nanos but I put slightly longer pins along the rear edges of an old pair of nanos and it made a *huge* difference to the grip- give it a go. Longer pins all round made relatively little difference by comparison.

Context- trying to relearn flats after years on spds and kept pulling off the back, so may be me specific. Mate who’s a long term flat person liked them too though.

I like the long nano pins best.

Any thoughts on when the Nano 2.0s might be in stock Neil? I've had a pair on back order for a good while now.

Maybe I’ll try the long pins first then and see how I get on with those....

Something like these perhaps? M4x9.2 mm according to the Q&A section.

Been looking for similar for my Oneup plastic pedals (M3x10mm) as don't need the 40 included in the £16.99 replacement kit.

Thanks - I looked at those but they’re threaded all the way to the top. The ones in my pedals have a bit at the top that’s slightly narrower with no thread for more grip.

From what I can see it’s the Spank ones or go with the long pins I’ve got already. My shins are terrified already 🤣

In that case get some M4 washers to use as shims and run the longer pins at 8mm. When they subsequently wear down remove the washers :D.

Chromag dagga pins from crc are a bit cheaper and insanely grippy. I put some in my nukeproof horizons a while ago and they’re great.

I forget the name but those new pedals that cost $200 (composite with pins that go through the whole pedal body) have fully threaded pins and say that the thread makes the pin more grippy. I can see how pointier pins will be more grippy but the threaded idea makes sense too.

Can you see if anyone has some spare SS pins. I'm sure the spare set comes with a full set of short and long so there must be someone that used the long and has the short set going unused.
