I have a Superstar V6 wheelset which is now on its third freehub after warranty replacements.

They've replaced it for free and were a very quick turnaround both times which is great I suppose but I just don't trust it anymore and would rather just pay for something more reliable if it doesn't leave me stranded,

Does anyone know if any different freehubs fit on the V6 hub or would it only be the one from superstar

They make their own design hubs these days so you are stuck with them

Fair enough,

Well I certainly wouldn't recommend them

Interesting, I have the same hub and have been very impressed. I got sent a new freehub as apparently the early ones were slightly out of tolerance and have had zero issues

What is the type (HG or XD) and failure on the freehub @tabletop2 ?
I have V6 on my winter hardtail and its surprised me how well it's done past two crappy winters (still on same bearings).

It's the HG freehub,

First one completely blew up, cracked all the way through.

The second one was making strange noises after a few weeks so I took off to check and one of the pawls had snapped off but it still worked,

Hopefully I was just very unlucky and this third one will be ok. If not I might try and get my money back but feel that may be a bit of a battle

Too flipping right it would be!

Why not just replace the pawl in the second case - £15 for a full set. I'd always have a few in the spares kit for any hub, just in case.
