Anyone tried an alternative drivtrain the Shimano /Sram?
Looking at either a Box or Microshift AdventX setup.
Not fussed how many speed as long as it has a wide ratio cassette.
Anything else anyone has tried?

I had a spin on the TRp system. Seemed fine to me.

I had the Box Two 11speed drivetrain(with a Sunrace 11-50t cassette), well made and nice shifting action. However the rear wheel was an absolute ballache to remove as you couldn't swing the derailleur out of the way enough and the shifter was a bit bulky and didn't play all that nice with my Hope brake levers so couldn't quite get it where I wanted.

Cut my losses, sold and moved back to the know manufactures.

Microshift Advent (9 speed wide range) on my RocketMAX. A bit agricultural in action but then I was a SRAM user previously so that doesn't bother me. I like the strength and simplicity.

TBH, I still skip a gear most changes so am still eagerly awaiting Microshift or Box to come out with a wide range 5 speed system...

Just brought a hybrid with Alfine 11 & Gates CDX belt drive, so far so good 👌🤞👍

I've been running Microshift XCD 11spd on my hardtail since May - bought to replace an Alfine which self-destructed (it had given 5+ years of sterling MTB service, and was 2nd hand, so not complaining too much).

Works very well, and from an engineering pov the clutch mechanism is far better than the Shimano one (imo anyway).

Price-wise it was about €110 for shifter, rear mech, and 11-46 cassette (the better one with an alu carrier).

Looks and feels better quality finish than Deore, though similar in price.

colournoise.
It was the 9 speed I was interested in.
Always seem to shift multiple gears at a time so I think the bigger gaps on a wide range would suit me.
Where did you get it from?
Only seem to be able to find full drivetrains on German site who have stopped shipping to the UK.

I got the box 2 prime 9 recently and am happy with it.
The cassette is a bit weighty if that’s a thing, but it’s a bigger winch than I had before and it’s been pleasingly solid and quiet so far. I’ve not missed any middle gears.

I've got the microshift 9 speed cassette running with SRAM shifters/mech.  Ratio gaps are the same as 8speed 11-32, but with a 34 and 42 in place of the 32.  No noticeable gaps really, the jump to the 42 is sometimes felt, but by that point I'm desperate for the lowest gear I can get!

microshift 10sp on my wife's cross bike - drivetrain seems fine. Unfortunately the cable disks are bobbins so have had to change the whole thing over to shimano GRX, but no probs with the gears.
