fancying a week in the alps, in august.
been 4 times in the past, 3 valleys and Chamonix. some somewhere new.
don't want mad dh type stuff. long descents would be ace tho, and lifts rather than riding up.

where is good?

Guided?

www.bikevillage.co.uk

Everything taken care of and some great riding...but there is a bit of climbing, although not crazy stuff, quite a bit of lifts up with the minibus and then spending the rest of the day coming down.

Not DH, but some pretty techi singletrack.

Cup of tea and cake waiting for when you get down and some lovely evening meals.

if you have the budget then take a guided holiday with someone like Trail Addiction. Quite late to be booking now though and many places sold out. I am a strong believer in the guided holidays offering great value when you add in food/drink/acomodation and the guiding / uplifts. they really do know the best trails and for what you want that means footpaths not bike park.

Nice to see you are thinking of it and derserve it. Kevin always says that if he only had one place to ride before he had to hang his bike up then it would have to be with Phil and Lucy at Bike Verbier. Their set up really has the WOW factor. They should be on everyones bucket list.

I'm going back to La Thuile again this year. Lots of fun flowy descents and pretty quiet. We'll also be going to Pila and Les Arcs for day trips out. The 3 valleys is also pretty good these days and the decscent down to Bride les Bains from Courcheval is brilliant- I think it drops from 2700m to 600m. Samoen's is also somewhere worth a visit with Bike Alp, the descents are pretty steep, but all feel quite natural and not downhill tracks.
