I know they are cheap for a reason, but mine seem to lose spoke tension every 100 miles or so and start flexing around all over the place. Five minutes with a spoke key and they are all good but wondering if anyone else has had the same and when/if they'll settle down.
No experience with this particular wheelset but IMHO generally when nipples are unwinding the problem is that the spoke tension is not high enough to begin with. The nipples are held in place by friction caused by the spoke tension. If shock loads are exceeding or close to exceeding the spoke tension then the nipple can unwind - so the solution is to increase spoke tension.
As long as it is not a really lightweight rim that cannot cope with the tension then oiling the spoke threads helps to tension up the spokes enough so that the nipples don't unwind in use.
Had mine for four months now and the only "problem" I've had was last week with the freehub coming loose laterally which was fixed by tightening up the end caps. This has only happened once. I'll have done somewhere around 800Km on mine now.
There was a similar comment about the spokes on the BB forums, same poster? I've not checked. The other problem I've seen reported (again on BB forums) is that the bearings don't last long. They are standard sealed bearings so not a big job to swap them out.
When I got them my first thought was that they've been built to a price. Nothing wrong with that, most things are until you get to the higher end of the price spectrum. At the time the whole wheelset was quite a bit less than the cost of a pair of WTB Scraper rims, they aren't much more now. For £200 they are fine, if you get them in one of the sales at £150 or so they are a bargain. They are fine for local rides and testing the B+ waters but I don't think I'd choose them for the Tour Divide.
Yeah that was me the last time they did it.
Like twisty says, usually means not enough tension. But if you don't think it's that, you could try spokefreeze. Not a product I really like tbh but it could fix this issue.
