In contrast to Stealthcat76's Go Outdoors/Osprey thread (she's quite amused at how long that's chuntered on for!)
Our Alpkit Koala tailpack, which she'd used for the Dirty Reiver, immediately started coming loose as soon as I started using it on proper offroad on this weekends #Jennride - enough to buzz on the rear tyre (despite not having anything heavy in). Much faffing and bodging got me to Alpkit Ambleside, who took one look, agreed it wasn't up to scratch and swapped it for a new one. Hurrah.
It took less than half an hour's riding for the brand new one to fall off enough to get properly caught in the backwheel, burning a couple of holes in it in the process. Quite pissed off by this point, funny old world. More bodgery with cable ties and I managed to get round the rest of the route, without doing more damage.
Emailed Alpkit this morning, and explained the situation, and suggested that maybe I could exchange for one of the newer Exo Rail dropper post compatible packs, which they readily agreed to and I've just popped over to Hathersage to exchange them. They don't have the rails in stock yet, and I'll have to pay for that (but at discounted "package price") which is fair enough.
Although obviously I wish I hadn't had the problem in the first place, Alpkit have been utterly painless to deal with. Great guys, thoroughly recommended.
i agree. alpkit are great when their stuff falls apart.
I've stopped buying alpkit because i got fed up of it falling apart.
I really rate their down jackets. They've repaired one of my Gilets thrice. The Filo is the first thing I reach for in the winter.
Unfortunately, everything else they make is for someone whose been at the pies all through the year. Shame really, if the sizing was better I'd be buying a ton more stuff from them.
Alpkit used to be good when they were cheap. Now they are not that cheap, for me, their stuff doesn't match up to the quality of their competition.

Agreed. They were ok when the price matched the quality.
But now the price is too high for the quality, it’s not worth it. Better quality widely available for the same money
Good to hear they are aware of the fact their stuff falls apart through no fault of the user, and are prepared with free replacements though.
I'm the same. Had so many of their camping mats fail I'm going to look elsewhere.
