I've got a trek remedy which sustained a wee downtube dent when some **** clipped it off my bike rack about 6 months ago. The dent is nothing major and the frame is structurly safe but everytime I turn the bike over to clean or take the front wheel off it annoys me. Has anyone ever filled a dent with metal filler with any success. I was thinking of trying this and covering the downtube with a thick vinyl down to the trek plastic frame protector.
Any advice would be appreciated.

As it is a cosmetic repair I would repair it similar to a car I guess allowing for it being alloy, not steel.

Normal filler, that will have nominal weight, prepping and painting stuff as usual.

As you are covering it anyway, it's down to you how good you want colour match etc.👍

Yes, I dented the top of my top tube of my CDA. After advice on here I carefully filled with JB Weld. Sanded to a smooth finish and applied a suitably sized sticker.
